Dietician Corner

Serves - 1 person
Ingredients -
  • Udid dal (split black lentils)- 1 tsp
  • Moong dal (split green gram)- 1 tsp
  • Chana dal (split Bengal gram)- 1 tsp
  • 1 tbsp masoor dal (split red lentil)- 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds
  • Cumin seeds- ¼ tsp
  • Cinnamon- 1
  • Clove- 1
  • Curry leaves
  • Small whole dry kashmiri red chili- 1
  • Green chili, finely chopped- 1
  • Finely chopped ginger- 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped garlic- 1 tsp
  • Tomato, roughly chopped- 1
  • Garam masala- ¼ tsp
  • Chopped coriander
  • Oil- 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
Method -
  • Wash all the dals. Soak for 1 hour and then drain.
  • Add 2cups of water and cook in a pressure cooker until soft.
  • Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon and cloves.
  • When they begin to crackle, add the curry leaves, red chili, ginger and garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  • Add the tomato, garam masala, dals, coriander, and salt and boil for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
